Fly Athens Returns to the Iconic Panathenaic Stadium
The Fly Athens meeting returned to the iconic Panathenaic Stadium on 5 July, bringing world-class pole vault action to one of the most historic sporting venues in the world.
The Panathenaic Stadium, which hosted the first modern Olympic Games and stands in the heart of Athens with the Parthenon visible in the distance, once again provided a spectacular setting for the event.
Home favourite Emmanouil Karalis, together with some of the world’s finest pole vaulters, including Katerina Stefanidi, Tina Šutej and Renaud Lavillenie, thrilled the crowd and delivered yet another unforgettable edition of Fly Athens.
Among those in attendance were the President of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, Isidoros Kouvelos, who hosted the event at the Panathenaic Stadium, and legendary pole vaulter Sergey Bubka, who attended as the event’s Guest of Honour.
